Plenty of updates: How would Ellington Skiff respond to Allen throwing down the gauntlet? Would Fortune Sound Club respond to Shaun's complaint of jacket stealing (which was actually cut from the last episode)? What went on at the live wake that Allen attended? Find out now! |
Thu, 5 April 2012
Look, we're trying to keep the Mass Effect discussion to a minimum, but there is much to say. It's over with pretty quick and in a bizarre twist, Eric and Shaun have advice for Allen for an upcoming social engagement. Also, Allen declares arch-nemesis status. |
Thu, 8 March 2012
Join us as we explore the interconnected worlds of Dungeons and Dragons, hip hop dcoumentaries, adult puppet shows, and Mass Effect. |
Sat, 18 February 2012
Okay, first stop right there and go ahead and listen to episode 10 of The Sneaky Dragon Podcast. Make sure you keep that in your iTunes feed too, because you'll want to hear the rest of them. Done? Now listen to this, part 2 of the Sneaky Dragon/Justice Pals crossover. Guests David Dedrick and Ian Boothby join us for the thrilling conclusion! |
Fri, 3 February 2012
The question on everybody's mind-- is this Warm Bodies movie going to be funny on purpose or funny because it's so dumb? We have no answers! We get more mail from our favourite correspondant, Ellington Skiff. And we have a D&D live show coming up. Adventure! Excitement! Pudding! |
Fri, 13 January 2012
Welcome to a new year! We'll do our best to link everything in this episode to Sherlock as we enjoy a delicious breakfast of Cumberbatch Benedicts (easy on the Barty Crouch sauce). |
Fri, 23 December 2011
We bookend this episode with some gift-giving, all from Allen who has returned from London with many tales to tell. We also take a look at Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and open up the "where are they now" files on Stephen Baldwin (nobody really wanted to know). |
Thu, 1 December 2011
With Allen away on his British theatre tour, we have Michael Teigen joining us for this episode. We also get to use the censor beep and the "Gordon's Alive!" clip. Post-production shenanigans, hooray! |
Fri, 11 November 2011
Eric gets to work with some celebs, Allen learns bridge from a Canadian legend, and we finish off by promoting blog links to things that got cut from the show. |
Wed, 12 October 2011
New seating arrangement, new computer, new euphemisms. |
Fri, 23 September 2011
It's all bad puns and half-conscious ramblings in our Back to School 2011 episode! |
Fri, 2 September 2011
Look, we've got our usual bunch of movie geekery and whatnots, featuring talk of movies new and old and a roller coaster simulator, but you want to stick around to the end of this one to hear about our respective yet to be created Dungeons and Dragons characters. Yes you do! |
Fri, 19 August 2011
Yes you read that right-- we interviewed Daryl Stoneage and Tyler Chandler, the director and producer respectively of the documentary Donkey Love, which according to its own tagline is "everything you don't want it to be about". It's actually a very good movie about the surprisingly common Colombian practice of... aw hell, you'll have to hear them describe it for you, and then never look at Juan Valdez the same way again. |
Fri, 5 August 2011
Allen's health issues are a major concern again while we discuss Science World, the Richmond Night Market, and various things that are not Vancouver places of interest. |
Wed, 13 July 2011
Oh, just you wait until the end of this episode when we discuss whether or not joining Google+ is worth it (totally not, unless you ask Eric). Along the way we'll hear about Allen avoiding injuries while jumping off cliffs, Shaun getting injured while watching a movie, and Nic Cage injuring us all in our hearts with his emotions. |
Fri, 24 June 2011
Weird voicemails, hockey riots, Star Trek Conventions, Solstice raves, Strippers, and Dog Fights. It's been a full couple of weeks for us. |
Thu, 23 June 2011
Note: This is a special episode for people who have watched the first season of Game of Thrones and will spoil it for you if you haven't. Eric, as someone who has read the novel this season of the show was based on gives some insight into what we saw this year, while Shaun, as someone who struggled through the year trying to figure out who was related to whom and how, listens and asks questions. Also, you can thank Shaun for showing the world why he hasn't achieved the mashup fame of Girltalk with the opening theme for this episode. |
Wed, 1 June 2011
We look at the continuing reign of MarioKart 64 over the world of racing games, the excellence of Community, and the joy of Bridesmaids, all while Allen suffers through the entire show with a sore thumb. |
Wed, 27 April 2011
Allen returns from abroad to tell us some Asian tales. We are also joined by Dave Dutkewich who tells us a tale from his youth. Nte: Some of the tales may be difficult for the queasy. |
Thu, 31 March 2011
Allen is away, so we're joined by Riel Hahn or this episode. Go see some adorable videos at justicepals.com, and let us know what you think at justicepals@gmail.com! |
Thu, 10 March 2011
We almost lost Allen during the recording of ths podcast. Actually, we did in a way as the computer rejected one o his audio tracks. Reset the calendar, because we have now gone 0 episodes without a technical glitch. We also open with a callback to a later joke (you'll know it when you hear it), and make many references to a topless girl on a jet-ski (original context removed). Get lost in a fever of hilarity! |
Thu, 10 February 2011
We are joined by Lauren McGibbon to talk about the Super Bowl vs Grey Cup entertainment (how did we orget that the Black Eyed Peas played the Grey Cup just 6 years ago?), make some uninformed picks for your Oscar pool, and take a trip back in time. |
Sat, 15 January 2011
Folks, let me tell you about a favour we did for you this podcast. Upcoming movies are so boring this month that we ended up looking through Vince Vaughn entire filmography to decide if he's any good. And we cut that bit out of the finshed product. You're welcome, and enjoy. |
Wed, 22 December 2010
Final episode of 2010. All of us almost cry at some point in this episode. |
Tue, 7 December 2010
Excitement as usual as Allen teaches us some new terms, Eric has more audition trouble, and Shaun giggles in a strange way. (The first edit of this featured a miinute of overlapping tracks. Of course, I remember the fiddling around with buttons I hadn't used before to cause this problem. The overlapping tracks have been separated for your listening pleasure.) |
Sat, 6 November 2010
We like Halloween and we all had fun this year, so we're bringing that fun to you, dear listener. |
Sat, 16 October 2010
Oh folks, Halloween is approaching, so the jokes are scarier, the health prognostications gloomier, and the food choices are noisier. Seriously. The worst food choice of podcasting history is made in this episode, but is immediately shut down. Well, almost immediately. |
Thu, 16 September 2010
Shaun shares Bumbershoot memories, Allen remembers his family trip to Oregon, and Eric watched some movies. It's a journey through your imagination! |
Sun, 22 August 2010
We spend a bit of time reminiscing about waterslides, paintballs, and vampire childbirth. Also, Allen stumps Eric and Shaun at their own game of trivia. |
Wed, 28 July 2010
It's all about Eric in this episode-- Eric saw a movie, Eric answers questions, and Eric lovingly explains the career of Roger Corman. Also, we tell you about a movie you shouldn't see, but we feel like talking about it anyway. We're compelled to. |
Tue, 27 July 2010
It's another special show as we've all seen Inception and talk about. This episode is full of spoilers though, so don't listen until you go see Inception (and go see Inception if you haven't-- it's quite good). We'll be back with a new full-sized episode in a day or two. |
Tue, 13 July 2010
Well, well, much to discuss as Allen shares some new summer games that could get you arrested (or immolated), Eric transforms himself into Eddie Vedder, and Shaun rants about internet comment threads. Also, WE GOT AN EMAIL! AND WE RESPOND TO IT! |
Sun, 20 June 2010
Rassum frassum internets! I already did a description for this episode and it was very good, and then the internet froze up a bit and I've got to redo it, and it's never quite as good the second time. So now I'm opening it by cursing like Wil Wheaton (who I think gets it from Johnny Castaway anyway). Let's give this another go-- among the things you will hear on this episode are an exploration of the boringest character in Twilight, a discussion on the merits of memory foam, and a justification for why M. Night Shyamalan may get his film career back on track with The Last Airbender. |
Mon, 31 May 2010
In this show we talk to a library employee, talk a bit about Russell Brand (only one of us is not repulsed by him), and Eric saw one of the movies we talked about last time! |
Fri, 28 May 2010
We're back with another tv-specific episode, this time discussing the end of Lost. Allen and Shaun take this one on, since nobody else anywhere on the internet is stepping up to discuss this. Does no one on the internet care? Again, this is intended for people who have watched the show in question and is full of Lost spoilers. |
Thu, 27 May 2010
Spoiler alert! This show is intended as a one-off episode for fans of the show Ashes to Ashes. If you haven't watched all three seasons of Ashes to Ashes, go do that, and THEN come back and listen to this. We also spoil the final episode of Battlestar Galactica (mildly), but if you haven't watched that yet, what are you doing looking at podcasts? Shaun and Eric spend a bit of time dissecting the fantastic final episode of Ashes to Ashes and what it means for the rest of the show and for Life on Mars. |
Thu, 13 May 2010
We've got more Twilight revelations as we explore the character of Jasper. Shaun goes on an extended rant about ads during the playoffs, Allen threw a frolf hole in one, and Eric is taking you to Awesome Town! Find more info at justicepals.blogspot.com. |
Tue, 20 April 2010
It's a long one this week, as we take a look at old classics and new like Howard the Duck, Monty Python, Treme, Iron Man 2, and the programs of G4. Once again, all you can eat ribs come up because, well, all you can eat ribs are awesome. (This podcast has been brought to you by the science-free magic of miracles, because they are everywhere up in this bitch). |
Wed, 7 April 2010
We usher in a new era of Justice Pals podcasting with this episode, as Allen Morrison becomes not just the guest for the thrid consecutive episode, but the actual co-host as we transform ourselves into a power trio. We give tips on how to get more for your all-you-can-eat buck, delve into Rosalie of the Twlight series, and tell you what movies to save your money for next month. |
Tue, 2 March 2010
Hold on. That's special: Olympic edition. Or Olympic Special Edition? Look, Allen Morrison, Vancouver's greatest sports fan is back to reminisce about the olympics. We also watch some music videos (which can be found on the blog at justicepals.blogspot.com) which is what Eric was doing instead of loving his country, and chat about chatroulette. |
Sat, 6 February 2010
Don't worry. The worst spoilage you'll hear in this episode is that Bella has a vampire baby in Twilight. And now that that's out of the way so you can listen anyway. Allen Morrison is back to join us in talking about Eric's cargo problems on a commercial set and to receive a phone call from Nick Harrison. |
Thu, 21 January 2010
Actor Michael Roberds joins us to talk about Marc Singer, douchebags on ski lifts, and phrases that need to be retired from mass media.
|
Wed, 6 January 2010
Avatar has changed the way we say numbers. Also the length of time we think our podcast should be. Thanks to James Cameron inspiring us to make things longer than necessary, the first podcast of the new year is our longest in a while, breaking the one hour mark. That's okay-- we have a lot to talk about and Jennifer Perrin and her dog Romeo as our guests.
|
Thu, 17 December 2009
Settle in, pour yourself a mug of Hoth Chocolate, and fetch a plate of Wookiee-ookiees as Josh Hallem joins us for a journey to Kashyyk and back for the holiday season. Also, we mention Avatar, so...
|
Tue, 17 November 2009
We are joined by Allen Morrison once again and get a surprise visit from Vicky Van (aka @shutupnerd on twitter). Then we talk video games, movies, and more nerd stuff, as expected.
|
Fri, 23 October 2009
We have located Bill Taylor and put him on the show to talk about his wrestling ref career, some movie stuff, and some other stuff. Note: The Men Who Stare at Goats stars Danny Ocean, the Dude, Rentboy, and Verbal Kint. It does not star Iceman.
|
Wed, 7 October 2009
Our guest is Dave Olsen of various podcasts including Choogle on with Uncle Weed and the Canucks Outsider Podcast. He joins us as we learn to not assume we know how the editing of the show will turn out, discuss various wildlife danger situations, and get a plot rundown of the Clint Eastwood masterpiece, The Eiger Sanction.
|
Wed, 16 September 2009
We are vigilant in our search for Bill Taylor, ostensibly our guest for this episode. A new month brings another chance to gaze upon the beauty of Scarface. And we debut the new thing that we do now, which is give our opinions on upcoming movies we haven't seen. Keep your eyes peeled... But don't stare at me like that. It's creepy.
|
Sat, 29 August 2009
No more episode numbers! Who's counting anyway? Shaun comes home from vacation and we get our old favourite Allen Morrison, author of howyoucanbecool.com, to join us for tiki goodness and to figure out where the bananas have gone.
|
Fri, 31 July 2009
We gear up for summer vacation time (one of us will be away for a bit, meaning this will be the last one until sometime towards the end of August) amid the record-breaking Vancouver heat wave. Also our guest forgets to show up, but makes up for it by giving us a phone call to explain herself. Recommended for listening while fully immersed in an ice bath.
|
Fri, 10 July 2009
We are joined by Table 23's Jeff Penner on a very special episode, which highlights a dangerous social ill. (Social ill to be announced)
|
Sat, 13 June 2009
Devin Mackenzie joins us to talk about video games, the crazy house around the corner, and Shaun's computer virus (discussion was cut but alluded to twice). Edited while wearing foot sheathes.
|
Thu, 21 May 2009
We finish up our look at upcoming blockbuster movies and take a bit of time to offer our praise to Star Trek, and heap as much shame as possible on Terminator 3, which was a terrible, terrible movie.
|
Thu, 30 April 2009
We have a pair of guests from the sketch group Canadian Content on the show, and they were good enough to bring along some of their Canuxploitation album (available on iTunes-- go get it) so we could give the computer man a break. They're Diana Frances and Ian Boothby, and they helped us through the first half of our summer blockbuster preview.
|
Fri, 10 April 2009
Adam Pateman returns to talk about dimes, sweat pants, and ID4. We open with a Star Trek reference and close with a Cinderella reference.
|
Fri, 27 March 2009
Allen Morrison returns and we talk some sports a bit before getting back to being geeks. Allen Morrison is going to destroy Shaun Stewart in their NCAA bracket pool, and the sooner we can all accept this and move on, the better.
|
Fri, 13 March 2009
This is one of our geekier episodes, with one of our less geeky guests. How does this happen...? Magic, that's how. Devon Lougheed talks about sci-fi movies and computer tek and wins the best bad Jerry Seinfeld impressions reading bad poetry contest, as voted on by guffaws.
|
Wed, 4 March 2009
Sorry for all the 2.08s, but the first one was defective, and the second seems to have borne many of the same traits. Turns out, changing the filename would have been the way to go. This is the real, healthy Nick Harrison podcast. We are all still Star Wars geeks in this one, in case you're wondering.
|
Wed, 4 March 2009
Russ Brummer of Table 23 Improv joins us to talk about best improv shows ever, RPGs, and last week's Oscar broadcast.
|
Thu, 5 February 2009
Eric and Shaun go it alone for a change. How do they fare with no guests to hold them back? Well, they start impersonating past guests and people they know. There is a brief guest appearance as Shaun's friend Jason makes a skype call, and totally derails the tech in his computer. Also, stay tuned to the post-music teaser at the end of the episode. You'll be glad you did.
|
Sun, 25 January 2009
We return with our most guesting guest Allen Morrison and bring back the awful celebrity impression reading classic poetry segment. Also, like trivia? Have some trivia. It's in there, go find it!
|
Mon, 19 January 2009
We are joined by improviser Kristin York, who has questionable views on Dane Cook. She's young. She'll come around.
|
Sat, 10 January 2009
It's the first episode of 2009, and our guest is the lovely Riel Hahn!
|
Mon, 22 December 2008
Dave Milchard comes on the show to help us recover from the previous one's disaster, and to declare his intentions as dictator of a nation near you. Who knows? It could be yours.
|
Tue, 16 December 2008
Last week, we were fortunate enough to have Canadian Comedy Award winner (improviser last year, and sketch group this year) and hot new director winner (at this year's VIFF) Drew McCreadie in for the show. We were unfortunate enough to suffer a tech setback that rendered most of the show useless. So we've put together this bonus episode of Drew McCreadie highlights, and we'll be back soon with a full episode.
|
Thu, 4 December 2008
Jaz Halloran returns to share details of his new rural life and his curious telecommunication practices. Also, can you tell who Eric is reading "You Were Meant For Me" as in the teaser? All this and more inside!
|
Wed, 26 November 2008
It's a brand new day on the Justice Pals Podcast. Among the changes you will find in the new season are an update in flavour from cinnamon to butter ripple, and a new virtual introducer. Our guest for this first episode of our new season (we're praying the network picks us up for season three, because all our story lines can't be wrapped up in this season) is Roman Danylo from the TV!
